Eileen F. Bizeau

ESCANABA -- Eileen "Mikie" F. Bizeau, age 91, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully at the Family Crest Living on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Mikie was born on March 12, 1935 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Vince and Nettie (Tubbs) Myrick. She shared 31 years together with her husband, Jim Bizeau, building a life filled with love, friendship, and many memories.

Mikie earned her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic and dedicated much of her life to education. Throughout her teaching career, she taught five years at Siren High School in Siren, Wisconsin, three years at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan and 24 years at Gladstone High School. While teaching home economics, she shared her knowledge and passion for cooking and sewing, teaching countless students valuable skills that they carried with them throughout their lives. She also served as a cheerleading coach for Gladstone High School, leaving a lasting impression on many of her students. Some may especially remember her for her allergy to watermelon gum!

Outside of the classroom, Mikie enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities. She loved playing Mahjong with her group of girlfriends and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, and camping with her motor home. She especially loved chocolate and looked forward to watching the dog sled races.

Mikie was also a passionate and fierce advocate for raising awareness and recognition of depression disorders, a cause that held special meaning to her, as her son also suffered. Her dedication to helping others better understand mental health was an important part of who she was.

Mikie is survived by her loving husband, Jim Bizeau; her son, Mark (Karlyn) Halvorson; her chosen daughter, Robin Danforth; her grandchild, Sten-Erik (Kourtney) Andreassen; her sister-in-law; Shirley Auch; her nieces and nephews, James Myrick, Jennifer Myrick, and Ann Marie Bizeau; her special cousins, Normetta Hurlburt, Denise Jenson, Tammy Wheeler, and Sherry Marx; her special close friends of many years, Rita, Ellen, Winifred and Sandra; and her beloved granddogs, Cam and Harley.

Mikie is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jay Halvorson; her brother, Joe Myrick; and her beloved dogs, Taffy and Bear.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kristy and the staff at Family Crest Living for helping polish Mikie's crown, as well as to UP Health System Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
