Vivian Gouin

ESCANABA -- Vivian Kay Gouin, 74, of Escanaba, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on June 14, 1952 in Escanaba, daughter to Austin and Mildred (Provo) Godin.

The former Vivian Godin married William O. Gouin at St. Patrick's Church in 1970. They were blessed with three children that they proudly raised in "NortTown".

Vivian worked for several years for the Delta County Sheriff's Department, initially as a cook but then also as a secretary prior to her retirement. Over the years, she also was employed with Sayklly's Factory.

Vivian was a loving wife and mother who always had an open door and a warm heart for family and friends. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own children, as she loved and cared for many as though they were her own. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome, and there was always time for a cup of coffee and conversation with anyone who stopped by. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking, sewing, crocheting, and gathering around the table for a game of cards. She also enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, trips to the casino, and cherished the time spent playing cards with her special group of friends, affectionately known as the "Delta Divas". Above all, she will be remembered as a loving, light-hearted mother and wife whose kindness, laughter, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Billy; children, Bob (Tricia) Gouin, Craig (Heather Begovac) Gouin, and Nina (Dan) Nelson; grandchildren, Molly Irving, Lexi (Logan) Canull, Allison Gouin, Gabe Gouin, Eli Gouin, and Quinn Nelson; great grandchildren, Bennett Truesdell, Oliver Canull, and Archer Canull; siblings, Gerry (Sue) Godin, Patricia (Paul) Besson, and Sue Cook; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Godin, Mary Gendron, Kathy Davenport, Carol Wheeler, and Chuck Godin.

Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Rick Courier officiating.

A special thank you to OSF Home Health & Hospice, Hannahville Heath Center, OSF Daniel J. Kobasic Cancer Clinic, and the Delta County Cancer Alliance for the love, care, and compassion provided to Vivian and her family during this time.
