GLADSTONE -- Vernon J. "Bud" Eschelweck, 94, of Gladstone, passed away at his home with his loving family at his side on Thursday morning, October 15, 2026.
He was born on January 12, 1932 in Green Bay, WI, son to Thomas A. and Margaret B. (Sigl) Eschelweck. Growing up in Green Bay, he graduated from West High, class of 1950. He cherished the many summers spent at his aunt and uncle's dairy farm, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for farm life and hard work. His childhood experiences were anything but ordinary, as he learned to harness a team of horses and was plowing fields by the age of 10. These early years helped shape him into the strong, tough individual he was throughout his life.
He proudly served in the National Guard for 17 years and was an accomplished sharpshooter. Beyond his strength and determination, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for music, enjoying playing both the ukulele and piano. He was also an excellent cook and baker, with a special talent for preparing German dishes and homemade baked goods.
In 1952, he helped his parents remodel the Lorelli Restaurant in Green Bay, which then opened for business. Bud worked at Machine Products in LaCrosse, WI and then owned and operated the Stardust Lounge in the '70's while also working as a manufacturing engineer at Lakeside Machine, retiring in 2004.
On July 7, 1990, Bud married the former Pamela Kreski-Andreini in Escanaba.
Bud was a loving husband and father who took pride in caring for his family. Remembered for his toughness, humor, many talents, and the love he shared with those closest to him, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, family, devotion, and treasured memories.
