TAMPA, Flo. -- Ross Gordon Dewar, age 77, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, with his wife, Gail, by his side.
Ross was born on July 8, 1949, in Escanaba, the son of Louise and Ross Dewar Sr. He attended local elementary schools before transferring to Cedar Lake Academy and later attended Andrews University.
Ross worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at OSF St. Francis Hospital before relocating to Tampa, Florida, where here retired from James A. Haley, Veterans Administration in the Audiology Department for 20 years of service to our veterans.
Ross was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He loved sailing, taking motorcycle trips, playing his guitar, flying his own small plane, traveling, baking bread, and singing. His family fondly remembers his distinctive singing voice, which was reminiscent of Willie Nelson.
Ross is survived by his wife of 32 ½ years, Gail Hutchison Dewar; daughter, Sarah (Greg) Gardner; son, Colin Feak; sister, Susan (Moe) Hermes; three granddaughters; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Ross Dewar Sr.; and stepfather, Richard Feak.
Ross has chosen to donate his body to the University of Florida in Gainesville. His cremains will be returned to his wife. Celebrations of Ross's life will be held in Tampa and Gladstone.
