Robert Tardiff

GLADSTONE -- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) A. Tardiff, age 89, of Gladstone, Michigan, who passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones at Murray's Country View.

Robert was born on April 6, 1937, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Clarence and Mary (McCormick) Tardiff. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1955. In 1960, he enlisted in the United States Army, returning home to Gladstone in 1962. He then returned to his position with the City of Gladstone Electrical Department, where he worked for 36 years until his retirement. Robert was also a member of the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department.

After returning home from the service, Robert met the love of his life, Maureen Weber. They were married on June 27, 1964, and together they had two children, Lisa and Todd.

Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Gladstone Golf Club. He treasured the 20 years he and Maureen spent in Gulf Shores with their snowbird friends from up north. He also loved traveling to watch his grandchildren participate in the sports they loved.

Later in life, Robert enjoyed his daily trips to the Dew Drop, where he would meet with friends, share stories with anyone who would listen, and visit with his favorite waitress, Christina, who became more like family. Above all, Robert was especially proud of his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his family.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Tardiff; his daughter, Lisa (Mike) Mihalic; his son, Todd (Traci) Tardiff; and his sister, Barb Pfiester. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) McMullen, Shannon (Nate) Czaja, Paige (Hunter) Gasman, Cole (Lizzie) Tardiff, and Jenna Tardiff; and his great-grandchildren, Brinley, Maverick, Ellie, Charlie, Wells, and baby Tardiff.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Tardiff; his sisters, Audrey (Francis) Grenier, Elaine (Dave) Phalen, Beverly (Leroy) Maki, Mary Ellen (Charles) Alanko, Margaret (Donald) Stevenson, and Kathleen Neadow; his brothers, Donald Tardiff and John (JoAnne) Tardiff; and his brother-in-law, Fred Pfiester and Allen Weber; sister-in-law Christine Cobb.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 16, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Skradski Family Funeral Homes in Gladstone. Military honors will take place at 4:00 p.m.

Following the Celebration of Life and military honors, family and friends are invited to gather at the Gladstone American Legion, located at 802 Delta Avenue, for a meal and continued fellowship.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the UP Health System Home Care & Hospice for taking such great care of our loved one.
