ESCANABA -- Melissa Germain passed away October 1, 2026 unexpectedly in her home in Escanaba. She was born to Steven Hunt and Patricia Furr in Lansing.
Melissa lived many places in her life from LePere, Engadine and St. Ignace to Green Bay, but Escanaba was always home.
Melissa had also worked at Catholic Social Services, UP North Lanes and Bar, Barons Bar, Blackstone restaurant and many more.
Her biggest accomplishment was her job at Catholic Social Services and her drive to help others with their recovery.
Surviving Melissa is her father Steven Hunt; brothers Karl Bush and Michael Kirk; sisters Briana Hect and Stephanie Stratton; her daughter Cheyenne and many step children, nieces, nephews and friends.
Melissa was preceded in life by her mother Patricia Furr.
A release of lanterns will take place Thursday Oct. 15. The exact time and place are yet to be announced.
