ESCANABA -- Janice Linette Lancour, age 79, of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at LakeHouse in Escanaba.
Janice was born on April 1, 1947, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba to Milton and Amelia (Loritz) Erickson. She was a 1966 graduate of Holy Name High School, and her first job was at Tim and Sally's Restaurant.
On June 21, 1969, Janice married the love of her life, John Lancour, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness. This year, they celebrated an incredible 57 years of marriage. Janice and John shared life side by side, doing everything together and creating countless cherished memories along the way. Their greatest joy was raising their two beautiful children, who were the center of their world.
Janice had a caring heart and a natural gift for helping others. She dedicated 25 years of her life to serving others as a nurse's aide and certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Christian Park Village before retiring. Her compassion and willingness to care for those in need reflected the kindness she carried throughout her life. She loved the UP State Fair and attended every day and especially loved "Ladies Day."
Janice's love and memory will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, John; her children, Joan Anderson of Escanaba and Jason (Christine) Lancour of Rock; grandchildren, Megan, Amanda, Madelyn, and Hank; and great granddaughter, Maeve and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Amelia Erickson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
