BARK RIVER -- Terry Glimn, 89, of Bark River, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born November 6, 1936.
He graduated from Michigan State University with a Master's degree -- where he also competed on the varsity fencing and the tennis team. He settled in Bark River in 1966 to realize his childhood dream of becoming a cowboy, raising Herefold cattle and Quarter horses.
A natural educator, Terry was a wood and metal shop teacher for the Perkins, then Mid-Peninsula school districts until his retirement. His dedication to teaching extended beyond the classroom where he taught Michigan hunter's safety classes, snowmobile safety, and SCUBA diving as an active member of the Delta Divers.
Terry’s love for the skies led him to found the Delta County Flight School. As a certified flight instructor and a regular fixture at the Delta County Airport, he taught countless locals how to fly and shared the joy of aviation taking people on sightseeing trips. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and even built his own two seater plane.
In the community, Terry served as a part time deputy sheriff, and was a member of both the Bark River Lions Club and the Delta County Yacht Club.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Glesmann), and his son, Dan (Sue) Glimn. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Lacy.
No funeral service is planned. Arrangements were provided by Crawford Funeral Homes, Escanaba and Bark River.
