WAUWATOSA, Wis. -- Shirley Mary Kobasic, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Wauwatosa, WI, on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Shirley was born on April 4, 1950, in Escanaba, MI, to Frank and Mary (nee Kolich) Kobasic. She attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from Escanaba High School. Following graduation, Shirley moved to Milwaukee, WI, to pursue her calling in nursing. She graduated from Nursing School in 1960 and dedicated her entire life to caring for others. As a home care nurse, Shirley touched the lives of many patients with her kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for those she cared for.
Shirley found joy in many of life's simple pleasures. She loved music, dancing, and gardening, but above all, she cherished time spent with children and the elderly. Her caring nature and warm heart made her a special presence in the lives of those around her. Shirley was a woman of deep faith, she called JESUS her best friend, she was a devout Catholic. She started each day talking to her Lord and reading scriptures.
Shirley is survived by her siblings, Catherine Wendt, Frank J. "Bud" (Audrey) Kobasic, Barbara Jean Darce, Joan Kobasic, John Kobasic, Claude (Beverly) Kobasic, and Mary (Zahid) Hanif; as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary, Helen Lou, and Daniel Kobasic.
Shirley will be remembered for her caring spirit, gentle heart, devotion to her faith, and the many lives she touched through her years of caring for others. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and compassion that will remain with her family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, with Father Joseph Boakye Yiadom officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
