ESCANABA -- Sandra L. Verbrigghe, age 80, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully at the Christian Park Healthcare Center on Sept. 7, 2026.
Sandra was born on June 23, 1946 in Escanaba, Michigan, to John and Ella (Wunder) Stasewich. She was a graduate of Escanaba High School. Her home was affectionately known as "the gathering place," where family and friends could always feel at home. She found joy in the simple things in life, especially feeding and watching the birds, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed cooking, making wine, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She especially cherished her time at camp with her husband, Joseph Sr., where they would spend time together in the deer blind watching the wildlife.
Sandra is survived by her sons, Joe Verbrigghe Jr. and Jeff (Shannon) Verbrigghe; her daughter, Sherri (Kevin) Salmi; her brother, Larry (MaryAnn) Krause; her grandchildren, LeAnn (Michael) Jewell, Brittany (Tanner) Poupore, and Patty Jo Salmi; and her great grandchildren, Wrenley and Kysen Jewell; her sister-in-law, Janet Stasewich; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friend Gayle Stoykovich.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Verbrigghe Sr.; her parents; her siblings, Luella (Jim) Rose, James Stasewich, Nancy (Al) Hendrickson, MaryAnn Little, Rita (Roger) Eubank, Pat (Don) Madsen, Richard (Janet) Stasewich, and Bob Stasewich.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. led by Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom. Committal Prayers will be conducted at Gardens of Rest Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Escanaba following the funeral service.
