Miriam Coyne

ESCANABA -- Miriam Coyne, 94, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 16, 2026 atLakeHouse Assisted Living in Escanaba.

She was born in Liverpool, England, daughter to Griffith and Elizabeth (Heald) Jones. Miriamwas a military uniform seamstress in Liverpool when she met the love of her life. At the age of 20, she moved to Escanaba to marry Jack Coyne in 1952.

She found joy in many of life's simple pleasures. She loved knitting, creating beautiful blankets, sweaters, and booties for those she loved. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flower gardens, as well as cooking and preparing meals for her family. She shared a special love of classic cars and helping her husband Jack, restored three old Chevrolets. "Mickey" was a devoted wife, Mom & Nana to her grandkids.

A real sports fan, she proudly cheered for the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Red Wings, and followed NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. She was also a fan of Liverpool Football Club (soccer). Her three beloved Boston Terriers, affectionately known as her "pugs", held a very special place in her heart and provided endless companionship and joy.

Among survivors include her children, Michele (Dale) Wieciech, Patricia (Kim) Nelson, Brenda (Steve) Ammel, and John (Suzanne) Coyne; grandchildren, Christopher Wieciech, Sean Nelson, Ryan and Katie Ammel, and John III, Jackie, and Shannon Coyne; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Arthur Jones and Glynn Jones; nieces and nephews, Cindy, Greg, Mark, Jeff, Kim, Peri, and MaryBeth along with several living in England and Australia.

In addition to her parents and husband Jack, she was preceded in death by infant twins; grandson, Stacy Nelson; parents in law, Jack and Dorothy Coyne, Sr; brothers, Robert and Griffith; sisters, Lee, Brenda, and Ann; nephew, Doug Coyne; niece, Carla Coyne; and brothers inlaw, Pat (Nancy) and Tom (Marilyn) Coyne.

Private services will take place at a later date.
