Jean E. Jungles

NEW LONDON, Wis. -- Jean Ellen Jungles, age 83, formerly of Cornell, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Trinity Terrace in New London, WI. She was born on April 6, 1943, in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of the late Hubert and Marietta (Spranger) Bayerl.

Jean worked for Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company before she married James Jungles on July 27, 1968, in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Richard and Karen. Jean was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock, where she was involved with the Altar Society. After moving to Wisconsin, Jean became a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London.

Jean enjoyed canning, sewing, and crafts, and loved sharing her creations with family and friends. She also enjoyed babysitting and made a lasting impact on the children she cared for, many of whom continued to reach out to share their memories of her.

Jean is survived by her children, Karen (Curt) Steinbach of Fremont, WI, and Richard (Melissa) Jungles of Green Bay, WI; four grandchildren, Kristiann Jungles, Jake Steinbach, Ben (Jennifer) Steinbach, and Zack Steinbach; a great-granddaughter, Ellie Jean Steinbach; her sister, Claire Bayerl; her brother, John Bayerl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean (Pete) Way, Joyce Abrego, Joe (Pam) Jungles, Jan Carter, and Julie (John) Caron; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, and her grandson, Brendon Jungles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock, MI, with Father Michael Ocran officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Lewin Funeral Home of Fremont, WI, is assisting the family with arrangements.
