ESCANABA -- David P. Corrigan, age 65, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at Murray's Country View Assisted Living Facility, in Gladstone, surrounded by his loving family, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
David was born May 3,1961, in Kingsford, the son of Clayton and Rosemary (Flaminio) Corrigan. He was raised in Kingsford before moving with his family to Bark River, where he attended and graduated from Bark River-Harris Schools in 1979. While in school, Dave was an accomplished athlete, excelling in both football and basketball.
On May 9,1981, Dave was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and lifelong love, the former Sherry Sorby, at St. George Catholic Church in Bark River. Together, they made their home and raised their only daughter, Whitney, in Escanaba.
Dave dedicated 42 years of his working life to Billerud Paper Mill Corporation, formerly Mead Paper, before retiring. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family throughout his many years there.
Dave was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba where he and his family attended for many years.
One of the finest joys of Dave's life was his only grandson, Jakoby. He treasured the time they spent together and enjoyed making memories with him throughout the years.
Dave enjoyed landscaping and working in his yard and was truly a jack of all trades. There was little he couldn't figure out or fix, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. In his earlier years, Dave enjoyed playing in the famous 3-on-3 Gus Macker Basketball Tournament, in Iron Mountain, with his buddies Al Bloniarz, Joe Derouin and Don Cousineau. He thoroughly loved the game of basketball and was proud to have his daughter Whitney as his biggest cheerleader.
Dave also loved golf. He was a lifelong member of the Highland Golf Club. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite times were summers spent camping and boating with friends at Pentoga Park in Crystal Falls and in later years, taking side-by-side rides with his beloved wife, Sherry. Scott Peltier was Dave’s lifelong friend. One of Dave’s most enjoyable times was watching The Peltier Brothers Band play at local venues. Dave also became close friends with Scott’s brothers Rick, Joe, Leo and Dennis. Whether working around the yard, enjoying a round of golf, riding together, or simply spending time with family and friends, Dave appreciated the simple moments and the people he loved.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; his daughter, Whitney (Lenny Vader) Corrigan; his grandson, Jakoby; his brothers, Gary (Traci) and Mark (Jean) Corrigan; his sister, Colleen (Bill) Jensen; his sister-in-law, Sandy (Doug) Motto; his father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Ann Sorby; numerous nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends, including Mike "Mad Dog" (Ruth) Madalinski, Pat (Sherry) Dagenais, Jim (Joan) Kroll, Jim (Debbie) Olsen, Mark (Lori) Rudden, Al (Sandy) Bloniarz, Joe (Sandy) Derouin, Scott Peltier and Tom (Terri) Skradski and their daughter Jenna Leigh who was like a second daughter to Dave.
Dave’s parents, Clayton and Rosemary, preceded him in death.
Dave will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his willingness to help others, his many talents, his love of the outdoors and sports, and most of all, for the love he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Gathering, in honor of David P. Corrigan, will take place on Sunday September 27, 2026, from 2:00PM to 6:00PM, at the Highland Golf Club in Hyde.
