Caleb A. Ashby

MARQUETTE - Caleb A. Ashby, age 56, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin, following a long illness. His mother, Judy, was at his side.

Caleb’s parents were John B. and Judith "Judy" (Reyniers) Ashby. He was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School with the Class of 1988. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University, graduating in 1993.

Following college, Caleb moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he began a career in television, working in the Master Control Department at CBS. He later returned home to Marquette, where he was self-employed as a digital creator.

Caleb's interests reflected a genuine appreciation for music, art, and the popular culture that shaped his generation. His musical tastes ranged from The Beatles, ABBA, Genesis, Journey, and The Doors to the music and culture of MTV and the memorable films and television programs of earlier decades. He also had a deep appreciation for art, particularly the beauty and emotion found in the paintings of Vincent van Gogh.

During the many years when illness limited what Caleb was able to do, music, art, and his friendships remained important parts of his life and provided him with enjoyment and comfort.

Caleb was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Caleb is survived by his mother, Judith "Judy" Reyniers Ashby; his sisters, Luci Ashby and Marcia Glass; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Ashby.

Caleb's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the competent and caring staff at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation of Kingsford; the doctors and staff at HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay for the exceptional care provided to Caleb; and the staff of the Emergency Department and Infusion Department at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for their care and kindness throughout his illness.

At Caleb's request, no public services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trillium House Mazzuchi Family Care Fund, 1144 Northland Drive, Marquette, MI 49855, or Bay Cliff Health Camp, P.O. Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808.
