GLADSTONE -- Lawrence Spaulding, age 78, of Gladstone passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Lawrence was born June 1, 1948 in Powers, Michigan, the son of Edward and Leona (Rushford) Spaulding. He was united in marriage to Shirley Burnard on June 18, 1966 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells. He was a self-employed truck driver, loved spending time with his family and was quick witted.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Shirley; his daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Pouliot and Barbara (Wesley) Litts; grandchildren, Mikayla (Andrew) Moore, Alyssa (Luke) Geurink, Alexis Litts, Hannah Litts and Cameron Pouliot; great grandchildren, Jameson, Barrett and Josie Geurink; siblings, Melton Spaulding, Grace Willis and Eleanor Lauren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, George, Edward, Bill and Howard Spaulding and Luella Hancock.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Lawrence will be Entombed in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum in Wells.
The family would like to thank Northwoods Hospice, as well as, the numerous medical professionals and support staff in both Rochester, MN and Escanaba, MI for taking care of Lawrence with such kindness and empathy.
