ESCANABA -- Kenneth J. Ozimac, 91, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Born on May 27, 1935, in Escanaba, Ken was the son of Frank and Anna (Gersich) Ozimac.
A lifelong Escanaba resident, he graduated from Escanaba High School with the Class of 1953 before proudly serving his country in the United States Army, including overseas duty in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Ken returned home and began a career with Harnischfeger Corporation, where he worked as a draftsman until the company closed in 1985. He then joined Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone as Director of Maintenance, faithfully serving there until his retirement.
Ken found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, spending time with his nieces and nephews, and creating lasting memories with family. In his younger years, he was an accomplished bowler who traveled throughout Upper Michigan, Wisconsin, and Las Vegas to compete in tournaments. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Ken treasured attending games at Lambeau Field and especially enjoyed witnessing the legendary Ice Bowl in 1967. In his later years, he became a familiar face throughout Escanaba, often seen walking the city’s streets and parks, where he never missed an opportunity to stop, visit, and share a conversation with the many friends he made along the way.
Ken is survived by his sister, Mary Crose of Macomb Township, Michigan, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Melvin, Robert, and Donald Ozimac; and his sisters, Margaret Bartoszek, Elaine “Deb” LaPine, and Carol “Jeanne” Kulaski.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the Delta County Veterans Council and the United States Army National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, Ken’s family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Joseph & St. Patrick Catholic Church.
