ESCANABA -- Delores "Lorry" Flath, 89, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 9, 2026 at Bishop Noa Home.
She was born December 19, 1937 in Escanaba to Arvid and Florence (Hoffman) Anderson. At four years of age, she moved to Cornell and attended grades K through 6. In 1950, she moved to Escanaba after a house fire and finished high school, graduating with the class of 1956. She married Howard Flath in 1956. They were married almost 60 years and had four children. After attending Bay College for a year, she worked at OSF Hospital for 25 years.
As a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, she held the offices of President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Woman’s Service Group. She worked on many committees, including the 125th anniversary of the church. She attended many national conventions of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a reporter of LWMS and attended many Lake Superior Circuit Rallies.
She was president of the West Highland Activities Club and was on many planning committees for the Class of 1956 reunions. She volunteered at many places throughout the years like the Red Cross Blood Bank (where she proudly donated over two gallons of blood), the Bonifas Art Center, City Zoning Board, and accumulated over 2500 hours of volunteering at OSF Hospital after working there for 25 years.
Delores traveled frequently by train and plane around the country. She even visited Hawaii, England, and Paris, France for family reunions and to visit children, grandchildren, and siblings.
Survivors include her children, Jean (Joe Brow) Fulton, John (Deb) Flath, and Bill Flath; grandchildren, Daniel (Missy Miller) Blevins, David Blevins, Meggin Ryan, Josh Flath, and Cortney Fleming; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Paula (Bruce) Erickson, Merle (Jerry) Stryker, Gordon (Nancy) Anderson, and Terry (Steven) Anderson.
Along with her parents and husband, Howard, Delores is preceded in death by her daughter, Judy; and siblings, June Ahlin, Dale Anderson, and Glen Anderson.
Visitation will take place on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St, Escanaba, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 S. 30th St., Escanaba, with Pastor Paul Dolezky officiating. At the conclusion of the funeral, a meal will be served in the church hall.
Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
