ESCANABA -- Susan "Sue" Mary (Cook) Keldsen, 77, of Lansing, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Holt Senior Care Center in Holt, MI.
Sue was born on October 12, 1948 in Escanaba, daughter to William and Veronica (Schomin) Cook. She lived in Escanaba until she graduated from Holy Name High School in 1966.
After graduation, the former Susan Cook married John M. Keldsen in Escanaba in 1966. Together, they had one son, Michael John Keldsen.
Sue worked for the State of Michigan Treasury Department until her retirement in 2009.
Sue found joy in the beauty of the natural world and cherished time spent outdoors. Whether strolling along the beach, admiring blooming flowers, or simply taking in the beauty of her surroundings, nature brought her peace. She especially enjoyed collecting rocks and feathers from her adventures, each one serving as a treasured reminder of the places she had explored and the memories she made along the way.
Among survivors include son, Michael Keldsen of Lansing; granddaughter, Mikaela Keldsen of Wake Forest, NC; grandsons, Thomas Keldsen, Grand Rapids, MI and Jonathon Perez, Nashville, TN; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Cook, Judy Erickson, and Mary Shreve; along with eight nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Along with her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Cook.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13 St, Escanaba, MI 49829, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Rob Jurkovich officiating.
Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the MDSCAA Adult Day Services, 507 1st Ave N., Escanaba, MI 49829. Messages of condolence can be directed to the family at www.crawfordfuneralhomes.net. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Keldsen family.
