GLADSTONE -- Harold “Jim” Goodyer Jr., age 91, of Gladstone, passed away on July 20, 2026 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.
Harold "Jim" Goodyer is survived by his daughter Carole Parish (Roy/Son in Law) of Gladstone and son Timothy Goodyer of Waukesha, WI. Grandchildren include Melissa Goodyer of Denver, CO, Courtney Parish of Green Bay WI and Kellen Parish of Bozeman, MO. Jim also had four great grandchildren Layla, Landon, Nickolas and Royce. Jim was preceded by his father H.J. Goodyer Sr., and Mother Charlotte (Wilhelm) Goodyer. His wife and mother of his children Theresa (Curran) Goodyer and his second wife Sandra (Dahlquist) Goodyer. Also, his son H.J. (Jim) Goodyer III and his daughter Lisa Ann Goodyer.
Jim was a 1953 graduate of Gladstone high school who played football and basketball. He married his wifeTheresa and then enlisted in the air force in 1954. Jim and Theresa started their family and lived in Illinois after his service. They returned to Gladstone in 1966 where they spent the rest of their lives. Jim and his business partners started three separate machine tool companies in Delta County. Gladstone Manufacturing and Central Engineering, both in Wells. Then Lakeside Machine in Gladstone which operated from 1977 to 2002. Lakeside was the 2nd largest employer in Delta County for many years of its existence. He started Star Industrial sales in 2003 and worked with other Suppliers, OEM companies, and small Machine Tool companies. Jim had a passion for his work and shared his experience with many younger businessmen of the area. A kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from Noon until 2:00 PM. Military service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Jim will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Goodyer family.
