Ronald Demers

BARK RIVER — Ronald W. Demers, 90, of Bark River, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Schoolcraft Medical Care in Manistique.
He was born on August 17, 1935 in Manistique, son to Wilfred J. and Mary A. (Fox) Demers. Ron was raised and also graduated from High School in Cooks.
Ron served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.
On July 7, 1962, Ron married the former Karen Gray at Auburn Heights, MI.
During Ron’s career, he worked construction, was employed with General Motors, Harnischfeger for 15 years, a roustabout in Alaska, handled snow removal at K.I. Sawyer, and lastly worked as an air evacuation coordinator at Fort Riley, Kansas until his retirement in 1998.

Ron liked to camp and boat. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting activities.
Among survivors include his wife, Karen Demers of Bark River; children, Mark (Shannon) Demers of Vulcan, Neil (Keith) Coffman-Grey of Santa Barbara, CA, Dale Demers of Bark River, Brian (Theresa) Demers of Escanaba, Corey Demers of Powers, Karla (Michael) Betters of Waukesha and Kayleen Povolo of Spalding; 11 grandchildren, Kayla and Taylor Betters, Jessica, Amanda, Isaac, Isaiah, and Adeline Demers, Dale and Nathaniel Demers, and Hailee and Trevor Demers; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Demers and sister, Norma Weberg.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 1st beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Military honors will take place at 10 a.m. with continued visitation time to follow. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. with Rev. Vinoy Thomas Panthialapadam officiating. At the conclusion of the mass a meal will follow in the church hall.
