Glenn King

ESCANABA — Glenn Alan King, 59, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 28, 2026 of natural causes.

He was born on December 14, 1966 at K.I. Sawyer AFB, son to Charlie Lee King and Bonnie Jean (Kivi) King. Glenn was raised in Escanaba (Pine Ridge area) and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1985. After graduating, Glenn worked road construction for Snowden Inc for several years before a brief time at Bichler Concrete Gravel. He had a career of 27 years with McCoy Construction where he held various positions beginning as service writer, parts department, and then his final years as yard manager.

Glenn married Kathy LaFave on September 18, 1999 at Bethany Lutheran Church.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and riding his Harley. Glenn loved attending car shows with his ’69 Corvette and his ’69 Chevelle which he cherished since he was 18. He treasured time with his family and friends, especially watching his grandson in his sporting events. While enjoying his retirement, the garage time with closest friends were among his favorite times.

Glenn was a member of the Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 and Escanaba Eagles Aerie 1088.

Among survivors include his wife of 26 years, Kathy King of Escanaba; son, Jacob King of Escanaba; grandchildren, John King and Harley Kwarciany; his parents, Bonnie King and Charlie King; siblings, Greg King and Dawn Demuese; special uncle, Ron (Carol) Kivi; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glenn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugo and Adele Kivi; and niece, Linnea Burdick.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will take place on Sunday, June 14th from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge 354, 510 Ludington St., Escanaba.
