Dennis Coon

He was the son of James E. Coon and Lucille (Malnor) Coon. He graduated from Escanaba Area High School and continued his education at Michigan State University. He joined the US Air Force in 1967 to 1971 and served during the Vietnam War. After the service he returned to Michigan State and received his degree in electrical engineering. Then went to University of Michigan for computer science and to Texas A&M for Probabilities and Statistics, receiving degrees at both the U of M and Texas A&M. Dennis worked for the U.S. Defense Department for many years until he retired.

Dennis loved golfing, fishing, and snowskiing and traveled to Europe on numerous skiing trips. He spent as much time as he could with his family and friends. Especially with his nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Dennis is survived by his brother Marvin (Kathy) Coon, Virginia; his sisters Mary (Earl) Groleau, Escanaba, and Nancy Bast, Wisconsin; his nieces, Nicole, Chanin, and Kerri; his nephews, Scott (Claire) Groleau, Bryce (Cindy) Groleau, and Jain Coon; his great nieces, Addison Groleau, Besty and Sherry Victory, his great nephews, T.J. and Patrick Nault, and Brayden and Kaleb Groleau.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James and Patrick; his grandparents, Herbert and Jeanett Tumath, and Marvin and Nancy Coon; along with other aunts, uncles, and great friends.

Dennis will be missed by all!

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 13 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 PM.

Dennis will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.
