James Wojtko

James Henry Wojtko, age 76, of Rapid River passed away at home on Monday, April 27, 2026

James was born August 20, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Marie (Bertolotti) Wojtko. James served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran serving from 1969 to 1971. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern and Union Pacific Railroad as a train operator, security at the the Terrace Bay Inn and as an assistant manager at Dunham’s Sports. He was active with U.P White Tails and the Great Lakes Sports Club, volunteering with the game feed and youth shooting program.

James is survived by his daughter, Kristina Wojtko of Wheaton, Illinois, son Jay Wojtko of Villa Park, Illinois; grandson, Raylan Hamilton; siblings, George (Nancy) Wojtko of Barlette, IL, John (Estelle) Wojtko of Schaumburg, IL and Gerald (Joan) Wojtko of Glen Ellyn, IL; nieces, Amanda (Aaron) Patterson, Jennifer (Carlos) Arevalo, Vicki (Gregg) Kirkpatrick, Traci (Ron) Weber, Laurie Wojtko, Karen Wojtko Murphy; nephews, John (Tatiana) Wojtko, William (Kim) Wojtko, Jim (Lisa) Wojtko and great nieces, Rachel (David), Lexi, Laney, Mackenzie, Mady and Audrey; great nephews Tyler (English) Victor, CJ, Thalles (Crystal), john, Nathan (Carly) Ryan, Kyle, Cole, Odette, Galena and Sage.

He was preceded in death his parents and a great nephew, Jacob.

The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind.

Priviate services will be held at the convenience of the family.
