Gayle Johnson

ESCANABA — Gayle Ann Johnson, age 70, of Escanaba, MI passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. Gayle was born in Escanaba to parents Harold and Mary (Besaw) Krusic on March 27, 1956.

Gayle graduated from Escanaba High School in 1974. She moved to Arizona and worked for What a Burger in Tucson. She eventually made her way back to Marquette, MI where she had two children, and then moved to Fond du Lac, WI in 1993 where she was the manager of the Super 8 Motel until she moved back to her hometown of Escanaba, MI. There, she finished out her career as the manager for the Dream Day Event Center, retiring in 2024.

Gayle was very outgoing and deeply cared about everyone in her life. She always made others feel loved and wanted, showing compassion and she truly wore her heart on her sleeve. Every year she looked forward to vacationing on Mackinac Island with one of her best friends Sue.

In her free time, you could often find her sitting in the park listening to the concerts. She also made many fond memories at weekly card nights with some of her siblings and family.

Gayle is survived by her Daughter, Renee (Ryan) Giese of Fond du Lac, WI; Son, Eric Johnson of Gladstone, MI; 2 Grandchildren, Clayton and Arianna, along with another Granddaughter on the way, and a Step-granddaughter, Taylor; Brother Doug (Billee) Krusic of Escanaba, MI; Brother Harry (Kathy) Krusic of Escanaba, MI; Sister Sue (Art) Caron of Cornell, MI; Brother Dan (Sue) Krusic of Phoenix, AZ; Brother Ray (Becky) of Las Vegas, NV; and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home of Escanaba, MI. The funeral service for Gayle will follow at 12:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Boakye Yiadom officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following the funeral services in the Ludington Room located in Anderson Funeral Home. Gayle will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum following the funeral luncheon.
