Thomas “Tom” Vogl, age 86, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the St. Francis Hospital.
Tom was born June 22, 1939 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Albert and Mary (Hanzlovic) Vogl. He was raised in Owosso and graduated from Owosso High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Susan (Frantz) Bovin on August 23, 1997 in Owosso. In 2001, Tom and Sue moved to Delta County and have remained there ever since. If Tom wasn’t hunting at his camp or fishing, you could find him in his workshop building furniture and novelty gifts for his family and friends Tom cherished time spent with his friends and family, especially the grandchildren. Tom was a jack of all trades. You could always depend on him to help with anything that needed fixing or building. To quote his good friend, “Tom lived every minute God gave him.” He truly lived life to the fullest.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Phillip (Julie) Vogl, Brian (Stacey) Vogl, Teri Vogl and Melissa Chapko; step-children, Jim (Kelli) Bovin and Bridget (Kevin) Beauchamp; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Robert (Pam) Vogl, Rick Vogl, Janet Janicek, Shirley (Bill) Franks, Dawn (Nelson) Smith and Becky (Greg) Heigl; sister-in-law, Jan Pitt; numerous nieces and nephews and good friends, Gary Schultz and Jerome Bowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Lauren Beauchamp, brothers, Tommy Dale and Butch Pitt, sister, Arlene Ardelean, and brothers-in-law Bob Ardelean and Steve Janicek and step-mother, Roberta “Bobbi” Vogl.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating. Tom will be laid to rest in the St. Paul Cemetery in Owosso, Michigan.
