Shirley A. Dowling

She was born on April 30, 1943 in Bad Axe, MI daughter to Nicholas and Emma (McFarlane) Pietruck. Shirley graduated from Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port Laker High School and then went on to pursue a career as a beautician attending Nu-Art Beauty School in Bay City.

June 12, 1965, Shirley married Charles E. “Chuck” Dowling, Jr. in Kinde, Michigan.

In 1985, Chuck and Shirley relocated to Escanaba for him to become a librarian at the Escanaba High School library and she enjoyed her career as a beautician and raising her children.

Shirley enjoyed playing games and watching a variety of TV shows.

She was a loving wife and dedicated mother of her eight children. Shirley loved time spent with her family and friends.

Among survivors include her children, Chris Dowling, Michelle (Dale) Lingaur, Robert (Andrea) Dowling, Karen (Ken) Iler, Donna Dowling, and Mark Dowling; grandchildren, Kurtis, Jacob, Chad, Isabel, Emma, Jessy, Philipp, Alicia, Grace, Kelsey, and Michael; and brother, Dale Pietruck.

In addition to her parents and husband Chuck; Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Tom and sister, Connie Pietruck.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
