Robert George McDonald
MANISTIQUE — Robert George McDonald, age 86, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Schoolcraft Medical Facility in Manistique. He was born on September 15, 1939, in Manistique.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army and served for five years, primarily in Germany, with a short time spent in Beirut, Lebanon. He was honorably discharged on January 23, 1963.
On August 1, 1987, Bob married the former Barbara Messer of Manistique in the chapel at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Sheila Kay, Scott, Lynn, Patrick, and Tanya; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Wood Cemetery in Doyle Township, with Father Ben Paris officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will take place in the Wood Cemetery.
A celebration of Bob’s life will take place following the cemetery service at the V.F.W. Post in Manistique, with fellowship and a luncheon to be served.
