Marion Nivison
Marion “Mya” Nivison, age 90, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 in the company of her children.
Mya was born on May 21, 1935, in Gladstone, Michigan, the daughter of Erick and Freda (Norlander) Apelgren. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1953. On June 21, 1952, Mya married the love of her life, David Nivison.
Mya raised 7 children and later worked at Bay de Noc Lure, a company her family helped found. She enjoyed spending time with her friends on the golf course and playing cards. When able, she loved fishing, gardening, and cross-country skiing. Scrabble Sunday, with her daughters, was a weekly occurrence.
Mya is survived by her sons, Robert (Cathy) Nivison and DD (Milia) Nivison; her daughters, Molly Anderson, Susan Wagner, Julie (Greg) Trombley, and Lisa (Dennis) Largent; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mya is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Nivison; her son, Kelly Nivison; her grandson, Timothy Schave Jr.; her sister, Hilda Rohr; her brothers, Nels, Erick, Harold, Edwin, Herbert, and Bert Apelgren; and her son-in-laws, Timothy Schave Sr. and Rodney Anderson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Lutheran Sewers or the church choir.
