Jerry E. Doucette

GLADSTONE – Jerry “Pug” E. Doucette, age 88 of Gladstone passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 8, 2026 at his home.

Pug was born in Escanaba on December 26, 1937 the son of Norman and Joyce (Champion) Doucette.

He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years. He recently received his 65 year plaque from the Operating Engineers Local 324. Pug especially enjoyed being on a bulldozer and back hoe. He worked alongside his father towards the end of the Mackinac Bridge being built.

Pug was united in marriage to the former Patricia J. Dagenais in 1991. Together they enjoyed traveling in the winter, and loved cruises. Pattie and Pug enjoyed doing yardwork together in the summer and hosting backyard parties with their friends.

Most of all Pug enjoyed his time being spent with his children and grandchildren lounging by their pool in the summertime. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife Pattie, Pug is survived by: children, Terrie Doucette Reagan, of TX, Rick (Patty) Doucette of Quinnesec, MI, Laurie Lindahl of Rapid River, MI, Staci Boris of Rapid River, MI, Jamie (Sherri) Doucette of Gladstone, Rick (Kelly) Zambon of Muskegon, MI, Shawn (Holly) Zambon of Stockbridge, MI, and Jamie Chechack of Rapid River, MI , sister, Trina (Frank) Short of Rapid River, MI, brothers-in-law: Larry (Joyce) Dagenais of Marquette, MI, Danny (Debbie) Dagenais of Marquette, MI, Jim (Cindy) Dagenais of Republic, MI and Russ Lewis of Gladstone, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Pug is preceded in death by, sister, Donna Lewis, brother, Billy Doucette and son-in-law, Mark Chechak.

Visiting hours to celebrate Pug’s life will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 3 until 5:30 PM at the Gladstone American Legion. A service will begin at 5:30 PM and a meal will follow at 6:00 PM.
