Janet Clare Reiffers
TRAVERSE CIty – Janet Clare Reiffers, 67, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 in the care of the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
She was born on January 17, 1959 in Escanaba, daughter to Stephen Matthew and Rita Rose (Miller) Reiffers. Janet grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1978. She furthered her education at Lansing Community College and then was employed with Battle Creek Inquirer and Pennfield Shell Station. Following her retirement in 2010, she moved from Battle Creek to Manistee. In 2015, she relocated to Traverse City to further enjoy her retirement years.
While in Traverse City, she was able to enjoy attending the Cherry Festival and celebrate holidays with her brother, Paul and his significant other, Karen and his daughter, Christa. Christa cherished the special moments with her aunt, especially their fishing excursions.
Janet loved reading, online shopping, cooking, listening to music, collecting unique items, and traveling. Attending the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Festival was always a favorite of hers to visit.
Dealing with medical issues much of her life, Janet was a strong advocate for herself. She was an independent hard worker who was an organized, neat, and tidy person.
Among survivors include her siblings, Jim (Margaret) Reiffers of Green Bay, Mary Kay Reiffers of Green Bay, Lisa Gilbert of Descanso, CA, Gerald (Rhonda) Reiffers of Escanaba, and Paul Reiffers (Karen Wierenga) of Traverse City; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Reiffers and brother-in-law, Dennis Gilbert.
Services will be held this summer with more details to follow.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
