Heidi Lynn Johnson
ESCANABA – Heidi Lynn Johnson, age 49, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home in Escanaba. She was born on March 12, 1977, in Escanaba, Michigan, to David and Christine (Johnson) Hanson.
Heidi was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Gladstone High School. She began her career working on ore boats, sailing the Great Lakes for Inland Steel Company, where she spent four years working in the kitchen. Drawn to a warmer climate, Heidi relocated to Alabama and later to Kentucky managing restaurants there for 25 years. Eventually, she returned to Escanaba, where she continued her work in the hospitality industry at Hereford and Hops and the Terrace Bay Restaurant.
Heidi had a passion for playing the guitar, a skill she learned from her Uncle Dick. She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard, participating in Bango Bingo, and spending time at the Eagles Club. Known for her outgoing personality, Heidi was always willing to help others and was cherished for giving the best hugs. One of her favorite songs was “Go Rest High” by Vince Gill.
Heidi is survived by her mother, Christine Hanson-Johnson; her father, David Hanson; and her brother, Zach Hanson. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Glen Johnson, Jim (Sharon) Johnson, Richard Johnson, Karen (Earl) Tryan, John (Tracy) Anderson, and many loving cousins.
Heidi was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Anderson; her grandfather, Bert Johnson; and her cousin, Scott Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Eagle Services will be conducted by the Escanaba Eagles Aerie #1088 at 5:00 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Heidi Johnson will follow in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Markwell officiating A reception will be held at the Eagles Club in Escanaba following the service.
