Darcy Jo Fournier

She was born on October 16, 1953 in Wallace, daughter to Douglas Machalk and Janice (Quinell) Machalk Kuharski. Darcy was raised in Stephenson and was a 1971 graduate of Stephenson Area Public School. As a young adult, Darcy moved to Illinois where she met Patrick James Patterson. They married and were blessed with two children, Fred and Erica. During her years in Illinois, she worked various clerical jobs.

In 1991, Darcy moved to Wilson with her children and she worked for Stenberg Brothers Inc, the Cobbler Shop and then Northern Michigan Bank/First Bank for over 20 years, retiring in 2024. Her customers at the bank became friends over the years and she loved interacting with them.

Darcy married Thomas A. Fournier on July 17, 1999 at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River.

In younger years, she was active in a bowling league which she enjoyed. She loved to read a good book, work in her flower gardens, play Facebook games, and snuggle with her cats. Darcy was a very social person who cherished her many friends.

Among survivors include her children, Fred A. Patterson and Erica Rae Patterson both of Wilson; mother, Janice Kuharski of Wilson; sisters, Dorothy (Chris) Wienckowski of Wilson, DeDe (Pat) Niquette of Wilson, and Delbra (John) Boudreau of Poplar Grove, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Fourier; father, Douglas Machalk; step dad, Ray Kuharski; and brother, Douglas Machalk.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will take place at 4 p.m. with Pastor Steven Hartten officiating. A meal will immediately follow at the Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River.

She will be laid to rest in Bark River Twp. Cemetery.
