Daniel Harold VanEnkevort

Daniel Harold VanEnkevort, 74, of Bark River, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 28, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

Daniel was born on September 20, 1951 in Escanaba, son to Arthur A. and Nora J. (Lehto) VanEnkevort. He attended Bark River High School, graduating in 1969.

On July 31,1977, Daniel married the former Catherine Marie Head at the Ford River Community Chapel. They were blessed with a son, Matt, and were able to share over 48 years together before his passing.

Starting his career at Bark River Concrete, Daniel delivered cement blocks. He then began working for the former Mead Paper Corporation operating heavy equipment for the Mead Woodlands Department. He finished his career as a weigh master, retiring in 2016.

Daniel loved to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed going to camp year around until his health declined. In his later years, he found joy spending time at the Bark River Senior Center on Wednesdays. There he would enjoy playing cards and having lunch with friends. His daily coffee clutching was something he always appreciated as well. His granddaughter, Everleigh was his pride and joy.

Among survivors include his wife, Cathy; son, Matt (Stacie Cousineau) VanEnkevort; granddaughter, Everleigh VanEnkevort; sisters, Maria (Ernest) Vallier and Shirley (John Erickson) Wyatt; sister-in-law, Julaine VanEnkevort; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his brother, Clifford VanEnkevort.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old US 2 & 41, Bark River, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating.
