Sheila Marie Fleury
ESCANABA – Sheila Marie Fleury, age 58, of Escanaba, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Born December 21, 1967, in Detroit, MI, Sheila was the beloved daughter of Bernard and Emily (Mauhar) Burch. She grew up in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1986, forming friendships that would remain some of the most cherished relationships of her life.
Sheila had a vibrant spirit and a strong work ethic that carried her across the country and into many chapters of life. She began her career at the Terrace in Gladstone before moving to Chicago, where she worked at the Marriott Hotel and attended DePaul University. Her journey then took her to San Antonio, TX, where she served as hotel manager at the Hilton on the River Walk. In 2000, she moved to Bay City, MI, becoming general manager of the H&H Restaurant.
On September 2, 2000, Sheila married the love of her life, Sean Fleury, in Bay City. Their greatest joy, their son Cole, was born in 2001. Over the years, Sheila embraced life in Fredericksburg, TX; Benisha, CA; Austin, TX; and Appleton, WI before returning home to the Gladstone area, the place she loved most to be closer to her lifelong friends. Most recently, she worked at OSF St. Francis Hospital Medical Group in Escanaba.
Sheila had a gift for enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She was a devoted Detroit Lions fan, a lover of 1980s music, and never passed up a funny video or a chance to laugh. She treasured time spent with her husband and son and held especially dear her core group of high school girlfriends, whose bond with her never faded. Sheila was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Sean; her son, Cole, both of Escanaba; her sister, Vickie Burch of Escanaba; her brother, Daniel Burch of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews, including Shannon Kohnert of Escanaba and Dustin Olson of Austin, TX.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anita Burch Kohnert, and her nephews, Raymond Kohnert and Billy Olson. Sheila will be remembered for her laughter, her loyalty, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
