Jan (Goetz) Eckstrom passed away March 11, 2026 with her family at her side following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jan was born at Saint Francis Hospital in Escanaba, Michigan on August 4, 1959 and grew up in the Buckeye neighborhood of Gladstone. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1977. Jan was elected to a statewide leadership position during her Senior year of high school in DECA (Distributed Education Clubs of America) giving her an opportunity to travel throughout the country at a young age and igniting her dream to work in a business environment.
After attending Bay de Noc Community College at 19, she moved to Minneapolis and began working in the financial services industry. She eventually advanced to positions within portfolio management and enjoyed her career immensely. In Minneapolis, she met the love of her life, Ed Eckstrom, they married on Valentines Day in 1987. Together they raised two children and her step-daughter. Jan took great pleasure in home life and was always a great hostess overseeing holiday dinners for extended family and hosting visitors in her home. She was a gifted quilter and a proud member of the ‘Bad Ass Quilters Society’ and took part in several quilting retreats per year.
She is survived and mourned by many, including her husband Ed, her son Ben (Alyssa), daughter Kelsey and step-daughter Kimberly (Britt), her father James, sister Christine (Jim) brothers Michael and Gregg (Sarah). In addition to her grandparents, she was preceded in death by her mother Fran, and her step-grandson Sean.
A celebration of Jan’s life will take place beginning at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola, Wisconsin and ending at her home on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 12 pm. Jan’s request was that her memorial be a celebration and her family will honor that and asks friends and extended family to join them in remembering her life and accomplishments.
