ESCANABA – Gary Joseph Lambert, 72, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

He was born on April 15, 1953 in Escanaba, son to Robert J. and Bernice B. (Derouin) Lambert. Gary was raised in Escanaba and attended Escanaba Schools. At the age of 16, Gary began working for Bay de Noc Packing which continued for nine years.

In 1978, Gary started his career with Mead Paper and retired in 2016 as the lead operator in the Boiler House.

On April 1, 2000, Gary married Cheryl Lee St. Cyr in Gladstone.

Gary loved working on projects and tinkering in the garage with his son, Jay. He enjoyed hunting and being at his family camp in Riverland. Gary was meticulous, whether working on his lawn or building and remodeling home projects. He was skilled in many ways and always enjoyed helping family and friends.

Among survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Escanaba; children, Bobbie Lambert (Joe Grib) of Green Bay, Jeremy (Sarah) Lambert of Arvada, CO, and Jay (Lisa) Lambert of Escanaba; step son, David (Nycole) Jones of Escanaba; grandchildren, Lindsey and Allison Lambert and Ella and Brianna Jones; siblings, Sandra (Ed) Desmond and Carol Lambert; many nieces and nephews; and his grand dog, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
