Daniel Lynn Mosier
Daniel Lynn Mosier
ESCANABA — Daniel Lynn Mosier, age 80, of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, at the home of his son, Dan Mosier, in Rockford, Michigan, surrounded by family.
Dan was born on December 27, 1945, in Escanaba, Michigan, and was raised in Rapid River, Michigan.
Dan proudly served his country after being drafted as an infantryman in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with “V” device for valor in direct combat. In his Bronze Star award letter, it was noted that his “personal bravery,” “courage under pressure,” and actions during a two-day skirmish protected fellow soldier’s lives.
Upon returning home from Vietnam, Dan worked a number of jobs before finding his calling as a heavy equipment operator and 40-year member of Operating Engineers Local 324.
Family, sports, and the outdoors were at the heart of Dan’s life. He was known as a sharpshooter–both on the basketball court for the Rapid River Rockets and later in the Army–earning the highest marksmanship qualification of “Expert” on multiple weapons. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an excellent pool player. Dan continued to play pool late into life, only stopping in his final days. He sought peace in the outdoors and spent much of his retirement fishing Little Bay de Noc in the early morning hours, returning to the dock by sunrise. Dan’s “secret” walleye recipe was a favorite among family and friends. His greatest joy, however, was in visiting and supporting his grandkid’s activities and passions. Dan proudly attended nearly every extracurricular activity and travelled often to be with the grandkids he loved.
Dan was a quiet, generous, and resourceful man, always willing to lend his time and fix-it abilities to anyone in need.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Mosier (née Beauchamp); his father, Carl Mosier; his mother, Genevieve Mosier; his brothers, Marvin and Lou Mosier; and his grandson, Dustin Georges.
He is survived by his children, Vicky Georges; Jenny Bioux (Emmanuel); and Daniel Mosier; his five grandchildren, Josh Georges, Chloe Pinar, Alyssa Vallier, Camryn Mosier, and Vivienne Bioux; his sisters, Nancy Ramsey and Sandy Lacosse; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dan will be remembered for his service, his strength, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held in August to recognize the extraordinary life he lived with a scattering of his ashes. The family asks that if compelled, a memorial donation be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at give.michaeljfox.org.
The Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Mosier family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
