Claudette Diane Therrian
ESCANABA — Claudette Diane Therrian, 85, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
She was born on January 9, 1941 in Escanaba, daughter to Charles and Cleo (Wellman) LaBay. Claudette was raised in South Bark River by her mother, Cleo and her loving stepfather, Gilbert. Her grandparents, Jesse and Louise were also very instrumental part of her upbringing. She graduated from Escanaba High School.
Claudette married James Edward Therrian on January 24, 1959 in Escanaba.
She spent many years raising her family and then as a caregiver for several individuals. She loved people and took great pride in helping others.
Claudette enjoyed playing bingo, cribbage, going to the casino, and in her younger years going on motorcycle rides.
She was formerly an active member of the Ford River Community Chapel and for the past 20 years has been attending New Harvest Church.
Among survivors include her children, Michael, Donna, and Daniel Therrian all of Escanaba; grandchildren, Crystal (Scott), Amanda, Edward (Emily), Nicole (Cedric), and Ashley; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Dawn) LaBay and Gilbert (Pat) LaBay; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, James; she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery Therrian; sister, Ramona (Paul) Christy; and brother, Ormal LaBay.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, March 12th from 3 – 4 p.m. at New Harvest Church, 201 N. 12th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will take place at 4 p.m. and light refreshments and fellowship will follow. A celebration of Claudette’s life will take place at a later date.
A special thank you to everyone that cared and loved for Claudette including her granddaughter, Nicole and Cedric, who would care for Claudette several weekends to provide relief to the rest of the family.
