ESCANABA — On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Catharine “Cathy” Mathilda (Weber) Crimmel was called by Jesus to her eternal home in Heaven. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, at Family Crest Living in Escanaba, Michigan.

Cathy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Colorado State University (now the University of Northern Colorado) and taught kindergarten and primary grades for 28 years in Colorado, Indiana, the Republic of Panama, and Wisconsin, retiring from Milwaukee Public Schools in 1983.
Cathy loved travel, visiting much of the United States and many countries abroad. She also had a passion for genealogy, music, reading, and maintaining detailed family histories. A lifelong Lutheran, she was an active church member wherever she lived and began playing organ for her father’s services at the age of seven.
She cherished time with her family, including many years living with her daughter Bev and son-in-law Russ, and later in Escanaba with her daughter Shari. Even into her later years, she remained actively involved in planning and constructing a handicapped accessible home she shared with Shari.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Rev. Richard Winters; and several siblings and extended family members.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, including UP Home Health and Hospice, private caregivers for the love and care shown to Cathy.
