NAHMA — William H. (Bill) Hebert, age 69, passed away peacefully on Feb 6, 2026 at home.
He was born on January 14, 1957 in Escanaba, Mi to Dale and Rhea (Turan) Hebert. He grew up in Nahma and later moved to lower Michigan where he graduated from Pontiac Catholic High School in 1976. He moved to Texas and Ohio for work before moving back to Michigan
Bill was known as an excellent drywaller and finisher and worked throughout his life at his craft. He also worked with his brother as an expediter for several years.
He was into racing whether snowmobiles or NASCAR. In his younger days he attended the Michigan race every year camping at the track and volunteered as flagman for the I 500 snowmobile race at Sault Ste Marie for years. He had an adventurous and charming personality and met new people wherever he went. He liked having an impromptu party and especially feeding people whether it was grilling ribs or deep frying fish. He enjoyed kayaking, fishing, hunting, telling stories, playing pranks. He learned to water ski as a child and would do it any chance he got. He was a loving uncle, brother and son and always helped plan Christmas dinner. Bill spent a lot of time playing cards with family and friends especially if they were in town for a visit. Wherever he went he was followed by his four legged buddy Shy-shy.
He is survived by his siblings, Jackie (Todd) Chambers of Isabella, Bruce (Carrie) Hebert of Niles; stepbrothers Pat and Preston Groleau, stepsisters Pam Leonard, Pennie Hirn; 8 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews also several aunts, uncles and cousins. And special friend Mary who took such good care of him
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Melvin Groleau, his stepbrother Pepper Groleau and Charlene Phillipi.
A graveside service will be held in May at the Moss Lake Cemetery.
