Nicholas Milan Prica

Nicholas Milan Prica, 82, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Born April 25, 1943, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Michael and Ann (Borovitz) Prica. Nick graduated from Wintersville High School in 1961 and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. While serving his country as an electrician on a missile launch team, he married the love of his life, Kristine Miller, on October 25, 1965, in Denver, Colorado. Together they raised two sons, Rick and Nick.

After receiving an honorable discharge in 1969, Nick moved to Escanaba in 1970 and began working on diesel engines with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. His skill, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit led him and Kris to open N K Electric in 1978, where he became well known for his craftsmanship and integrity.

Nick was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of the Rapid River Lions Club, the Escanaba Elks Lodge #354, the American Legion and he coached football at Rapid River High School. Over the years, Nick received two Good Citizen Awards. One was presented by the Michigan State Police for assisting in solving a robbery in Rapid River. The other recognized his leadership in helping plant trees on the Stonington Peninsula following the devastating Stockyard Fire of 1988. He also shared his expertise by teaching electrical classes at Bay de Noc Community College.

A proud Ohio native, Nick remained a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan throughout his life, a passion his wife and grandson Stephen described as “Crazed Ohio State football fan”!

Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Kristine; his sons, Rick (Nancy) Prica of Escanaba and Nick (Marlene) Prica of North Carolina; his cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Thomas, Ashley, Jordan, and Kiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Millicent Alberts.

Private family services were held. The Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
