CEDARVILLE – Marianne Milkowski, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Cedarville, Michigan. She was born on August 18, 1934, in Charlotte, Michigan.

Marianne grew up with a deep appreciation for learning and creativity. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1952 and went on to pursue higher education at Bay de Noc Community College and Northern Michigan University, where she studied Art Education and English that would shape her lifelong career and passions.

Marianne dedicated over three decades of her life to teaching Art and English at the Cedarville Schools. Her classroom was a place of encouragement and inspiration, where many students found their voices through creativity and literature. She was deeply respected by her students for her dedication and the genuine care she showed in helping them grow academically and personally.

Marianne’s love for the arts extended far beyond the classroom. She was an accomplished painter and illustrator who also enjoyed sewing, jewelry making, gardening, reading, writing, and raising animals. Her boundless curiosity led her to explore a wide range of interests throughout her life. Whether tending to her garden or crafting something beautiful by hand, she approached each endeavor with enthusiasm and care.

Family was at the heart of Marianne’s world. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Christian (Lisa) Sutter and Jeffrey Sutter; nine grandchildren, Tina Nye, Jack Sutter, Corey Sutter, Jesse Green, Heather Rodriguez, Shane Sutter, Cole Sutter; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Roberta (Dave) Johnson, John (Bonnie) Watson, and Judy (Bill) Olson; and many nephews and nieces.

Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, John Milkowski; her son, John (Janet) Sutter; daughter, Shari Nye; and siblings, Janice Watson and Tom (Kristy) Watson.

Marianne’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched–as a devoted mother, cherished sister, beloved teacher, and creative spirit. Her strength in guiding her children through life’s challenges remains a lasting gift to those who knew her best.
