Kenneth H. Neuens, 86, of Bark River, passed away on Friday morning, February 20, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
He was born on November 6, 1939 in Flat Rock, MI, son to Joseph C. and Emma M. (Slater) Neuens. Ken was raised in Flat Rock and attended Holy Name School. He later graduated from Escanaba Schools.
Ken served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1959.
On June 22, 1963, Ken married the former Clara Mae Guenette at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer. They shared 62 years together and were blessed with four children.
Ken was passionate about logging. He worked for Zawacki Forest Products before retiring in 2002.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending quiet moments on the deck swing with his wife, Clara. Games and cards were a staple in the Neuens household, and later in Ken’s life Dominoes were enjoyed also. Ken also loved doing puzzles, building bird houses, and feeding the deer. He was “Papa” to everyone and adored his grandchildren.
Among survivors include his wife, Clara; children, Kenneth Neuens, Patti (Gary) Johnson, Dennis (Amanda) Neuens, and Lisa (Sean) Rivard; grandchildren, Melissa (Pietro) Neuens, Rebecca Neuens, Victoria (Mike) Luebke, Olivia (Mike) Clark, Luke Rivard, Ashley Neuens, and Rachel Neuens; five great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Neuens, Therese Guenette, and Tom (Terri) Neuens; sister-in-law, Judy Neuens; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Eileen (Henry) Hughes, Elvira (Carl) Carlson, Dawn (Robert) LaPalm, Barbara Neuens, Dennis Neuens, and Janet (Harry) Whitehead; brother-in-law, Earl Guenette; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Neuens.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 24th from 1:30 p.m. until military honors at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Vinoy Panthilapadam officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
