William Arvan

BARK RIVER – William “Bill” Arvan, age 92, of Bark River, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026.

Bill was born and raised in Soap Lake, WA. Following his graduation, he proudly served the United States Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, he attended the Univ. of WA, Seattle Campus where he studied electronics.

Bill began working for Delco GM in Milwaukee, WI. It was there where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Gagne)Arvan. The two were married for 63 years and built a beautiful life together. Elizabeth preceded Bill in death in 2020.

Together, Bill and Elizabeth raised three children, William, John and Sandra.

In 1965 the family moved to Florida where he became employed with Sunbeam Electronics, and he also opened his own business. Following the sale of that business in 1977, the family moved to Bark River, MI to be closer to relatives. Bill worked at Claire Bedding until his retirement.

In retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife to craft shows throughout the summers. Even after retiring, he stayed busy helping local farmers by repairing fencers and other electrical equipment.

Bill enjoyed fishing, tending his garden, watching wildlife and the company of his grandchildren. He had a love for music and enjoyed dancing. He enjoyed his time socializing with family and visiting Ray’s Feed Mill in Bark River.

Bill was a lifetime member of the American Legion and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Bill is survived by his children, William (Sue) Arvan, John (Jean) Arvan, and Sandra Arvan (Ken Madden); his grandchildren Amy, Jordan, Lindsay, Stacia, Michael, Nathan, Kyle and Jennifer; his great-grandchildren, Audrey, Everett, Quinn, Liv, Lainey and Paisley; siblings Mike Arvan and Sam Arvan; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15 from 10 a.m. – noon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Rev. Vinoy Thomas Panthilapadam officiating. At the conclusion of the mass, a meal will be served in the church hall.

Graveside services and military honors will take place in the spring at Bark River Twp. Cemetery.
