Robert J. Gearhart
POWERS — Robert “Bob” J. Gearhart, 66, Powers, passed away on Wednesday January 21, 2026 at home following a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by loving family and friends. Bob was born on July 28, 1959 in Howell, MI, son of Gwen Irene (Kinsey) and the late Donald Clearence Gearhart. On December 17, 1977 he married the former Susan Philipps in Carney, MI.
Bob was a hard worker all his life providing for his family. His joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting for wildlife and good deals, fishing with family, coaching youth sports, doing chains for NCA football, working on cars, and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. He was a jack of all trades and willing to help anyone in need, whether it was family or the random stranger. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his canned goods, especially his hot mixed veggies, that were a favorite of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Susan of 48 years, children: Michelle (Steve) Schwark, Sonja (Tom) Dwyer, Lacy (Jeremy) Gearhart and Andrew (Beth) Gearhart, grandchildren: Jordan, Bryce (Faith), Trent (Maddie), Carter (Nevaeh), Shane (Amber), Dakota, Shayla (Lane), Sierra, Athena, Ava and Brayden, his mother Gwen Gearhart, brothers: Lyle (Kathy), Ralph and Stan (Roseanna),as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Donald Gearhart and infant grandson Ryan Gearhart.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday January 31, 2026 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bob Gearhart will be at 3:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday at the funeral home with pastor Dan Robinson officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the William Anderson Sportsman’s Club in Hermansville.
