Jeff Sanville
GLADSTONE – Jeff “Speed” Sanville, age 70, of Gladstone passed away on January 14, 2026 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Jeff was born June 20, 1955 in Escanaba the son of Archie Sanville and Lila (Samanen) Mackie. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1973 and married Deborah “Debbie” Lawson on August 16, 1975 at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. They were united in marriage for over 50 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and lovingly known to his grandkids as “Gramps”.
Jeff worked in a machine shop as a machinist, journeyman tool and die maker and journeyman machine repairman for many years, retiring from EMP in 2016. He was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle rider and would often take trips with Debbie and friends across the UP and the country. He enjoyed building and working on motorcycles, camping with the family, four wheeling, collecting antiques, flower gardening, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and in his retirement, taking his dogs to the park. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Debbie of Gladstone, daughter Tina (Todd) LaFave of Gladstone, son Jake (Cyndi) Sanville of Gladstone; grandchildren, Spencer and Marnnea LaFave and Samara and Kelsey Sanville; siblings, Audrey Lauscher, Steve, Judy and Ed (Sandi) Sanville all of Gladstone; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and his dog, Idibidi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bob Lauscher, sisters-in-law Beverly and Sheila Sanville and his dog, Betty.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 1:00 PM at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 25 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Log Cabin Grill and Bar in Gladstone.
