Betty Lou Rochefort

Betty is the daughter of Anthony and Olive (Schuster) Birchmeier and was born on October 20, 1933 in Maple Grove, MI. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School until the tenth grade. She lived in Maple Grove for twenty-one years until she relocated to Flint for five years, Garden, and then to Escanaba where she has been residing since 1995.

On May 8, 1954, she married Cletus Rochefort at St. Michael’s Church in Maple Grove, MI.

Betty and her husband, owned and operated a dairy farm in Garden. She was an active member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church and helped with funeral lunches.

Survivors include children, Debra Powers, Kristine (Vern) Wood, and Larry Rochefort; grandchildren, Shawn and Justin Powers, sister, Joyce (Jerry) Starland; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Janet Wenzick, Ray Birchmeier, Eileen Bishop, Dorothy Kolik, Mary Meter, Helen Pete, Gerald, Philinus, Dale, and Janet.

Private graveside services in New Garden Cemetery will take place in the spring.
