Richard Charles Johnson

WELLS — Richard Charles Johnson of Wells, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the Christian Park Healthcare Center, Escanaba, MI, under the care of Northwoods Hospice.

Richard was born on September 20, 1937 in Escanaba, MI and was the son of Arnold and Elisa (Anderson) Johnson. He attended Escanaba schools and then moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing. In 1971 Richard moved back to Escanaba and was employed with Mead Paper Company as a machine operator on the #3 paper machine.

On March 19, 1958, Richard married the love of his life, Ruth Brault and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2001.

Richard loved to play video games, enjoyed golfing, going to camp, cutting firewood, fishing, hunting and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Richard is survived by his children, David Johnson of Escanaba, Cynthia (Dan) Royer of Wells, and Christine (Steve) Wellman of Escanaba; three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother Edward Johnson of San Francisco, CA; sister Aurelie Martin of Escanaba and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Ruth.

Family visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Richard C. Johnson will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Faye Ness officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
