Linda Jo Western
ESCANABA — Linda Jo Western, age 78, of Escanaba passed away on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Linda was born June 2, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Burton and Bernice (Willis) Butler. She graduated from Escanaba High School and Michigan State University. For many years, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Escanaba Public Schools.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Erin (Shayla) Blankenship and Kathryn West, grandchildren Chloe, Griffin, Ellison, Sawyer, Cooper, and Charlie, and her sister, Bette (Mike) Sawyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Matthew Western.
For many years, Linda was an avid gardener and took daily walks through Escanaba, with her beloved dog, Elvis, who has since passed. Linda enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends, many of whom she befriended in elementary school. In the last several years, she looked forward to her regular visits to Anytime Fitness and her new friends there.
Linda’s favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, and her family will dearly miss the annual celebration at Grandma Linda’s.
Services for Linda will be held at the convenience of the family or at a later dater.
