Kathleen (Kathy) DeGroot Anderson

RAPID RIVER — Kathleen (Kathy) DeGroot Anderson, age 91, of Rapid River and a resident at Murray’s Country View in Gladstone peacefully entered into heaven on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Kathy was born February 6, 1934 in Norway, Michigan, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Giacherio) DeGroot. She was united in marriage to Gordon Anderson on September 7, 1957. They made their home in Ensign where they raised their family. Kathy stayed at home to care for her children and run the domestic side of the farm. She was active in the Ensign 4H Club which she taught sewing and other classes. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River and enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events. When her children were grown she cooked at local family restaurants, Grandma’s Place and the Pantry Truck Stop. She also enjoyed camping and being with her friends.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Joe) Rudolph and Florence (Frank Mongene) Anderson; sons, Gordon Jr. “Rusty” (Cindy) , Marty and Scott (Bridgette) Anderson; grandchildren, Kathryn, Jonathan (Sarah) and Jordan Rudolph, Steve (KC) and Tyler (Diane) Kuehl, Meagan and Tony Mongene, Dustin (Katlyn) Selin, Terris, Morgan and Myles Anderson, Kelly (Keith) Rasch, Kelly (Joe) Malloy, Sean Astorga and her 12 great grandchildren. Kathy is also survived by her brother, Dennis (Susan) DeGroot, her sister, Rosie Thorsen, her sisters-in-law, Joan Lantagne, Ruth Anderson, Diane (Richard) Bannan, brother-in-law, Wesley Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Daniel, daughter-in-law, Lynda Anderson, brother, Wallace DeGroot, brothers-in-law, Marvin Thorsen, Ronald Lantagne, Donald Anderson and sister-in-law, Virginia (James) Paquin and her very special friend, companion, camping and dancing partner, George Jacobson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating. Kathy will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery.
